History
Every story has a beginning. This is ours…
Dear students, parents, teachers, and distinguished guests, thank you for attending this beautiful gathering. I will share with you a very brief history about Dar Al Qalam.
Dar al Qalam opened its doors on May of 2012. The main purpose of establishing Dar Al Qalam was to promote community development through social and educational programs. During the last six years, Dar Al Qalam accomplished many beneficial community services.
The biggest service DAQ holds is the dugsi. The dugsi runs 7 days a week. On the weekend alone, we have over 600 students who attend the dugsi. For the last 6 consecutive years, we had the highest number of students who graduated under Minnesota Dugsi Association (MDA).
Dar Al Qalam studentsparticipate in the annual National Imam Shatabdi Quran Competition and won first place last year. We are proud to be one of the only Dugsis who regularly teach both Quran and Islamic Studies.
Since we opened DAQ we realized the importance of youth education. Therefore, DAQ established the machan which had two classes graduate in the last four years. Some of those graduates were accepted into the Islamic universities such as Madina and Qasiim. Others became successful Dar Al Qalam teachers and have their own students today.
We also have the strongest Islamic Preschool program in Minnesota. Since 2012, each year we have had over 100 students who graduated from our prestigious preschool. Our preschool graduates perform higher in their academics when compared to their classmates in dugsi and school as well.
Our programs not only serve our kids and youth but extend to adults, men and women. We have weekly Halaqas taught by out great scholar, SH ABDULLAHI IBRAHIM. For instance, Sh Abdullahi completed over 30 Kutubs over the last six years. At the same time, he held semi-annual important Dawrahs that benefited the whole city. Furthermore, Dar Al Qalam highly considers the importance of educating our Sisters. For that reason DAQ holds women’s classes on a weekly basis. Many parents and sisters have benefitted learning their religion through the Quran and Sunnah and continue to benefit till today.
Moreover, DAQ holds youth events, weekly family consultation, Jumma Congregation and many special services.
In conclusion, Dar Al Qalam is one of the strongest Islamic centers that promotes community development through social and educational programs.
